Session 1804
February 26, 2001

OLIVE STREET ENHANCEMENT GRANT:

Mr. Munkel wished to thank Mr. Ollendorff, Mr. Wagner and the City staff for all the hard
work on the Olive Street Enhancement Grant, for which we won a $1.1 million dollars.
He stated that our City win be much improved.

DEPUTY CITY MANAGER GREGORY ROSE:

Mr. Wagner wished the departed Deputy City Manager Gregory Rose best of luck in the
future. Mr. Rose had accepted a position of Assistant City Manager of Development
Services with the City of North Las Vegas, Nevada. The City Council was very
impressed with his wonderful work during his four years here.

Mayor Adams said that Mr. Rose was truly a joy to work with. He truly gave his all
during his four years here. University City is a much better place due to his diligent
work. He enjoyed knowing him and counts him as one of his friends.

Mr. Sharpe stated that Mr. Rose had done an outstanding job for the City and that he
will be greatly missed. Ms. Colquitt echoed Mr. Sharpe's comments.

CITIZEN COMMENT:

Loretta Bryant, 7863 Milan, stated that she was here representing Belmont Hills
Neighborhood Association. She wished to voice their concerns about vacant homes
that aren't being monitored by the City inspectors, particularly at 7724 Trenton, which
has been vacant for ten years. New tenants and new owners should receive a new
residents packet when they first visit City Hall. She also wondered it the City still
enforced the landlord being responsible to the tenants and the properties, which should
include realtors, when properties are for sale. Tenants aren't told to keep the property
maintained properly. Vacant property is not being maintained properly. The residents
are tired of this because the City's ordinances aren't being enforced. There are people
that reside in their neighborhood and go to U. City schools, yet they do not really live in
U. City. They would like to see this stopped, because our money is going to people
who don't even belong in U. City. They need help from all of the Council and City staff
to stop all of these issues.

6
