A bill was introduced by Councilmember Schuman, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE P~OVIDING FOR THE ~F.~7~KIRSEMENT OF CER!AIN C±T~ OFFICIALS FOR EkF~NSES INCURRED BY ~ IN OP~RATING ~EIR (~N AUTOMOBILES IN TRANSACTION OF ~JSINESS FOR THE Cl~fY; R~F~AI,TNG ORDINANCE NO. 5712." The bill was assigned No. 7938 and given its first reading. ~i~/FICATION OF Fm'r±T±ON The city Clerk said the petition to .amer~ the City Charter submitted by the "Treesavers" group has been checked by 'the St. Louis County Board of Election Cu~,=,~ssioners, and it appeared there weI~ enough valid signatures to place the issue on the ballot after Council adopts the ~%bling o~dinance. ADD£r±ONAL ISSUES FOR BALLOT The City Manager said he requested ~%e preparation of bills for Council review in JaD,,~y on several City fees that should be increased to bring them. more in line with increased costs. These include permits for construction, building, plumbing and electrical fees; Golf Course and Heman pool fees; and others. Mayor Majerus noted that there would also be some housekeeping-type proposed fharter changes on the ballot whirl% we~ primarily to bring the Charter into conformity with state statutes. Mr. Adams asked councilmembers to be sure to give any co~ents or suggested changes they may have on his amendment to the proposed anti-smoking bill to Mr. Ollendorff or the City Attorney so this bill can go forward. Mayor Majerus said Director of Public Wor]~ A1 Dieckgraefe informed Council that by the end of Dec~mber, emq~m%sion plans for the aluminum can recycling program will be ready, ar~l the program will get under w~y early next year. Mr.-A~ams moved that Council meet in exc~utive session at 8:23 p.m. this date in Room 6 of City Mall, 6801 Delmar, for the purpose of discussing personnel and legal matters. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Wagner, sch~man, Schoomer, Thompson, Price, Adams, and Mayor Majerus. NAYS: None.
