Session 1500, Minutes Page 7 <br />Ju/y 24, 1989 <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus drew attention to a proclamation designating Tuesday, August 8, <br />1989 as '~atic~al Night O~t" in U~iversity City. She noted this was the first <br />year a city-wide effort was being made to involve as many citizens as possible <br />in this activity of helping to keep our neighborhoods safe. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus also called attention to a resolution endorsing a 5~aruh on Wash- <br />ington, D.C. on October 7, 1989 by the I~o~sing Now! 9%u~p, which tries to find <br />affc0o4ahle housing for low-~ people 4]] over the country. <br /> <br />Mrs. Th~,~cn moved approval. Mr. ~ seoonded the motion, which carried <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved that ~ouncJ/ convene in executive session at 8:30 p.m. o~ Ju- <br />ly 24, 1989 in Room 6, City DLall, for the pu~ of discussing personnel mat- <br />t~_?s. Mr. ~ secure, ed the motion. ~he roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Ccunci~ Wagner, Schuman, Schocmer, Tn~,~on, Price, Adams, and <br />Mayor Majerus. NAYS: None. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman said there was an excellent seminar last Saturday in the Council <br />chamber which was o~ganized by Mr. Esley Hamilton, a member of the City's His- <br />toric Preser?ation C~l',dssion. She noted that people interested in prese~%~- <br />tion came from many different parts of the state to attend the meeting and she <br />wished to c~tu,~nd Mr. Hamilton for o£~nizing this worthwhile event. <br /> <br />Mr. Price asked Mr. Ollendorff if the material received by Council regarding <br />the successful pilot recycling pro~=~m in University City will be publicized. <br />Mr. Ollendorff said it would be, but he had wanted Council to see it first. <br /> <br />Mr. Price said he attended his first Un/versity city Residential Service board <br />meeting last week, and it was very constructive. He said he may turn into a <br />staund~ supporter of this g£uup if it continues on its present path. <br /> <br />Mrs. Tn~,~on said she b~?d a 9l~at many favorable cc~,,',,~_nts among the huge <br />crowd at last week's Cc~ce_~rt in the Park, performed by the ~=uup '"~elvet." <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus declared the meeting adjourne~ at 8:24 p.m. <br /> <br />Dolores A.
