He noted that the amount budgeted was $186,140, meaning
there will be approximately $50,000 left in the account, which will be used to
purchase badly needed replacement dumpsters. He added that at least six manu-
facturers of biodegradable bags were invited to bid, and two companies (the
last two on the list) responded; however, their prices were by far the most
e~pensive (two to four times higher).

Mr. Price moved approval of the Arrow Industries bid of $57.48 per 1,000, for
a total of $129,091.46. Mr. ~s seconded the motion.

Mrs. Sc. human asked if this price will hold for the entire year, and Mr. Ollen-
dorff said it would. In response to Mrs. Thc~oson, he said testing showed the
bags to be of the same quality as in the last two or three years. Mrs. Th~-
son said she thought residents were satisfied with that quality. Mayor Majer-
us asked about delivery time, and Mr. Ollendorff said bag delivery would re-
sume the first week in July. Mrs. Schuman ewpressed disappointment that the
biodegzo~ahle bags were not more om,~etitive in price with the regular plastic
bags. Mayor Majerus agreed.

All voted Aye.
