Th~son <br /> <br />Also present were City Manager Frank Ollendorff, Director of Finance Willie <br />Norfleet, and Deguty City Manager Susan Glass,an. <br /> <br />~he City Manager referred to ~get M~mo #3 which listed 22 budget requests <br />~ citizer~ and the Oouncil. He briefly reviewed th~m as follows: 1) Addi- <br />tional funds fo~ housing loans and grants--may be oonsidered next fall when <br />Council r~views the C~,e~unity Devel~ant budget, since City money cannot be <br />used legally for pri%-ate property. 2) ;k~d{r~ another inspector for loan pro- <br />~ is abo~t $30,000, which would have to cc~e fi-~, the program itself, <br />thus curt/rig down amount of loan mc~ey available. 3) Remainder of the Arts <br />a~d Letters O~,~issic~ request for $3,000 ($1,600 has already been approved). <br />4,5) ~te Park and KittY, lain prc~ improvements--to be con- <br />sidered when Council diso3~es the Public Improvement Fund. 6) Sound system <br />in Council chamber~-$750 in this year's budget should be enough to improve it. <br />7) More environmental inspectors--changing ~-c~;, a part-time to a full-time in- <br />spector cu~ts $14,000. 8) $100,000 for Olive impruvements-~live Improvement <br />Fund has nearly $100,000, but a{~ssion should be postponed until all have <br />had a chanoe to digest the Plan just received. 9) Additional funds for recy- <br />cling--pc~'t~o~e allocation of funds until pilot pro~i~m is evaluated, then de- <br />tezmine if more funds are r~d. 10) Restoration of side-yard refuse pickup <br />~ ccxner lots--the ~ is about $20,000 a year, an amcunt the City cannot <br />affcx~. 11) ~ _em~-~ park lights--a savings of $4,000 a year if all <br /> <br />~ the ~m%otion that not all suggese~ ~,~als will be approved. /2) Uni- <br /> <br />13) ~tional ~olioe pa~ls--the cost is about $20 an hour plus fringes. <br />14) Ser~ wa~ts on COde violators--a minimum of $3,000. 15) Cutting <br />brush ar~ %-~-~ along ~]]eys--the co~t of a two- or three-per,on ~=w for a~ <br />~t-beur 4ay ~uld be ~%~ $5O0 to $7OO. 16) Purdmsin~ and maintaining 30 <br />C~ lots in University City~ would be $3,000; providin~ m/nimal <br />~nte~anoe for a y~ ~ be at l~t $6,000. 17) Plan~-~-type barricade <br />on ~ w~t of ~g ~ = of $35~>~. 18) ~i~di~ ~ <br />Fur~--$33,500 ~----~-s .f~u~ the ~riginal ~]]ocation of about $150,000, which <br /> <br /> <br />
