RESOLUTION 2015 - 8 <br /> A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE REGIONAL BICYCLE PLAN IDENTIFIED AS THE <br /> GATEWAY BIKE PLAN DEVELOPED BY GREAT RIVERS GREENWAY DISTRICT <br /> AND PARTNER CITIES AND AGENCIES IN ST. CHARLES COUNTY, ST. LOUIS <br /> CITYAND ST. LOUIS COUNTY. <br /> WHEREAS, the Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan of the City of University City <br /> envisions a community-wide network of trails, walking paths, sidewalks, and on-street <br /> bicycle facilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of University City intends to implement the improvement of <br /> pedestrian facilities throughout the City as well as the incorporation of on and off street <br /> pathways; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of University City intends to implement and partner with adjacent <br /> communities and regional partners on the implementation of specific actions, policies, <br /> bikeways included in the Gateway Bike Plan document; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of University City is committed to providing a bicycle friendly <br /> environment which will improve community health, reduce auto emissions; foster a <br /> greater sense of community, while increasing the quality of life for our residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of University City has adopted a "Complete/Livable Streets" policy <br /> which is to be used as a guiding principle, where practicable and economically feasible, <br /> in the design, operation and maintenance of City streets to promote safe and <br /> convenient access and travel for all users including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, <br /> transit riders, and people of all abilities. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF <br /> UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: <br /> The City of University City hereby adopts the Gateway Bike Plan dated August 2011, <br /> and is committed to implementing plan elements and network facilities as resources and <br /> regional/local neighborhood support become available. <br /> Passed and approved this 26th day of May, 2015. <br /> 410 Wygpcb <br /> MAYOR <br /> ATTEST: . • ° <br /> • <br /> { <br /> TY CLERK <br /> 1 <br />
