The proposed improvement was the removal of a steel <br />street barricade at the intersection of Purdue and Wellington Avenues, and the construction <br />of a concrete island barricade and planter built in its place. The original estimated cost was <br />$6,700, but it was revised to $5,735. The City has paid $1,525 of the final cost, a sum that <br />represents the City's average cost to construct a street barricade. The property owners in <br />the neighborhood improvement district owe the balance of $4,210. The City Council <br />approved and established the district on November 5, 2001. <br /> <br />Construction of the improvement has been completed, and the final cost is $5,735, less <br />$1,525 the City has paid whiclh leaves a balance of $4,210 owed by the district. The City <br />Council has assigned a special assessment 1'o each property within the district. The general <br />method of assessment was for the improvennent cost to be assessed equally per property <br />address in the 1200 block of Purdue. <br /> <br />The special assessment assigned to your property is $ FIELD(assess). <br />You have paid $ FIELD(paid). Your balance is:$ FIELD(owe). <br /> <br />You may pay the assessment in full without interest on or before January 4, 2002, or you may <br />pay the assessment with interest in substantially equal annual installments for a duration not <br />to exceed 5 years. The rate of interest is 8!)6 per annum from the assessment date of <br />November 5, 2001, the date the City Council resolved to establish the district, until paid in full. <br />If you have already paid, please keep this letter for records. <br /> <br />Checks should be made payable to the "City of University City" and sent to the Finance <br />Director, 6801 Delmar Blvd., 1st Floor, University City, Mo 63130.
