Over 40 projects are currently underway throughout The River Ring, often in partnership with municipal, governmental and public agencies, as well as private and nonprofit organizations.
The key to the success of the Great Rivers Greenway is the identification and initiation of SEED projects, specific segments of the Greenways that can be implemented in the short term.
These projects may provide immediate social, environmental or economic benefits to the community, and also create an identity for the Great Rivers Greenway in numerous locations throughout
the region. SEED projects are identified and prioritized early in the master planning process for each Greenway to help establish the Greenways presence within the region and to encourage
early access to the Greenway system. These SEED projects generate excitement within the communities and provide critical momentum while the more
complex segments of the Greenway are resolved.
