The final Centennial Greenway alignment has emerged from thorough analysis, extensive field study and the regular engagement of the project’s Technical Advisory and Citizens Advisory
Committees. The alignment was then tested and confirmed with interested citizens attending public forums and with elected officials during informal discussions. The final Centennial
Greenway alignment described in detail on the following pages reflects the best possible route between Forest Park and Creve Coeur Park. When completed, the Centennial Greenway will
be separated from streets in its entirety, except for at-grade crossings. It incorporates significant segments of public land comprised of local parks and open space, street rights-of-way,
and Metro
right-of-way. The Centennial Greenway also passes within four significant areas of private ownership, including Washington University, Ameren Corporation right-of-way, and two private
homeowners associations. Through regular discussions with these entities, a collaborative has developed and the successful negotiation of easements is anticipated as each segment is
designed in The Centennial Greenway route is complex
and implementation will require coordination with many public entities and approvals from local municipalities. For clarity and simplicity, it has been organized into three sub-sections;
the Urban East, from Forest Park in St. Louis City to I-170 at the western edge of University City, the Central Corridor, through Olivette and unincorporated St. Louis County to Lindbergh
Boulevard, and the West County, from Lindbergh to Creve
Coeur Park.
detail.
