University City’s non-emergency Medical Transportation for Senior Citizens
Ms. Feier stated that she has learned of a funding problem with the senior citizen
non-emergency medical transportation. She asked Ms. Petree Eastman, Assistant
to the City Manager, to assess the current system and to secure transportation
alternatives for the future. Ms. Eastman was present to give an overall view of her
comprehensive report.

Ms. Eastman presented a summary of the present operation of the Senior Service
Board (SSB) of University City and its future. She then presented alternative
operations in existence available for senior citizen non-medical transportation. Ms.
Eastman reported that Mid-East Agency on Aging would not supply funding to the
SSB because they only service a small number of senior citizens who could be
adequately taken care of by other existing services, in which St. Louis County
CORP was highly recommended. CORP (County Older Resident Program)
provides many other services besides non-emergency medical transportation also.
Although SSB is a separate organization, the estimation is the City is paying
approximately $80,000 a year: in cash allowances, and in gasoline and repair
1
