<br /> The Corp recommended improvement project may not incorporate all of the elements the <br />o <br />City may desire such as detention basins or a natural appearing stream. In that case, the <br />City would have to fund elements over and above the recommended plan costs. <br /> The impact to current landowners should be considered: <br />o <br /> Degree that improvements will encroach on private property <br />• <br /> Willingness of property owners to sell property to accommodate channel <br />• <br />improvements <br /> Willingness of property owners to agree to participate in a flood reduction <br />• <br />alternative (i.e., blocking-off garage doors, elevating structure) <br /> Property values <br />• <br /> Economic issues were discussed, including the City’s desire to: <br />o <br /> Maintain the existing tax base <br />• <br /> Minimize project construction costs, and <br />• <br /> Reduce annual operating and maintenance costs for the City <br />• <br /> <br />Conclusion: <br />The City Council will consider holding a public meeting in late spring or early summer of this <br />year, to gather citizen input, and ultimately give the Corps direction. <br /> <br />The Study Session was adjourned at 6:25 p.m. <br /> <br />Joyce Pumm <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />
