Session 1837 <br />April 22, 2002 <br /> <br />area. The police chief is in the top five at his rank in pay. The lieutenants and captains <br />just received a large pay raise and a $2,080 matching funds for their ICMA. She urged <br />the Council to have the forethought and vision to make this the best police department <br />in the area. She thanked everyone that came this evening in support of their requests. <br /> <br />Pamela Mason, 1455 78th St., said that she was a resident interested in expanding the <br />recreation center. She presented a petition of other residents who use the recreation <br />facility, interested in the same thing. Basketball and soccer interferes with the track. <br />The weight room is too small. There is no place to shower. It is their hope that the City <br />Council will consider expansion for the Recreation Center. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner thanked Ms. Mason for coming and said that many agreed with her <br />comments on needed expansion for the Recreation Center. He asked what <br />improvements would be helpful. Ms. Mason said that the weight reom was extremely <br />small and the equipment so close together that one person has to stop exercising so <br />that the other person can pass by to the other equipment. She said that more <br />equipment is needed. The track area, being right there with soccer and basketball can <br />get dangerous and confusing.
