Approval of thE; transfers is recommended. <br /> <br />#9 - Sweeper for Streets Department: An Invitation for Bids was issued for a new street <br />sweeper. The results follow: <br /> <br />Bid Price <br /> <br />Key Equipment .............................. $116,252.00 <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff recommends the purchase of the sweeper from Key Equipment for their <br />bid of $116,252.00. This is ~vithin the estimated cost. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved approval of the consent calendar. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion, <br />which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />AGENDA #2 - PUBLIC HEARING - BUDGET: <br /> <br />The City Council sets this time to invite City residents' comments on the upcoming fiscal <br />year budget. A second public hearing for any citizen unable to present their views this <br />evening, will take place at the next regular City Council meeting on May 20'h, 2002 here <br />in these Council Chambers at 7:30 p.m. Comments may be submitted in writing at any <br />time or by stepping forward now to address the City Council. All comments are taken <br />under advisement and referred to appropriate staff for information. Final budget <br />decisions are made by the City Council after considering all these points of view in <br />June. Copies of the preliminary draft budget are available at the University City Public <br />Library and from the City Clerk, Finance Director or City Manager. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams opened the public hearing at 7:34 p.m. <br /> <br />Charlene Willis, 1570 Mendell Dr., wished to acknowledge the improvements to the <br />River Des Peres that MSD and the City is planning. She wanted to vigorously object to <br />any attempt to assess a tax or bill on the property owners involved in the project in order <br />to defray costs. They havE; paid taxes faithfully and do not receive direct benefit to <br />some that they pay, such as to the school district. They have suffered much to this <br />problem over the years and do not think assessing the citizens to help with the costs is <br />fair or logical. <br /> <br />Loretta Bryant, 7863 Milan, said that she is the President of the neighborhood <br />association where the MSD project that Ms. Willis spoke of will be occurring. She <br />understands that they will bring back the backyard property that was lost over a thirty <br />year period. The neighbors would like to just get the property back that they lost. The <br />extra property could become, common ground. Maybe this way they would not consider <br /> <br /> <br />
