MINUTES OF UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL
STUDY SESSION
June 18, 2007

The Council Study Session, held in the Chambers of the City Hall, on Monday, June 18,
2007, was called to order by Mayor Adams at 5:30 p.m. In addition to Mayor Adams, the
following members of the Council were present:
Mr. Robert Wagner
Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr.
Ms. Stefany Brot
Ms. Lynn Ricci
Mr. Michael Glickert
Mr. Byron Price had an excused absence.

Also present were City Manager Ms. Julie Feier and the co-chairs of the Second Century
Commission: Terry Jones and John Wright.

The Study Session agenda was planned for the discussion of the Second Century
Commission Report to the city Council, June 2007. The report listed the eight visions the
commission recommended to assist the City Council for future strategic planning. The
Second Century Council would like the Council to study and evaluate the visions presented.
The commission would then like to receive a report back from the Council as to whether this
disagreed and would not be taking farther action. It was recognized that some visions would
not be a short term process.

The eight visions, not necessarily in order of priority or importance, were:
?
University City needs a quality Public School system servicing all resident needs
?
University City Housing: distinctive, varied, affordable
?
Expand commercial base with distinctive developments
?
Promote and expand arts and culture
?
Premier governmental services
?
Northern boundary expansion
?
Electoral reform that promotes diversity
?
Integration of diversity

The City Manager hopes to incorporate some discussion of these visions in the Council’s
strategic planning sessions.

The Study Session was adjourned at 6:25 p.m.

Joyce Pumm
City Clerk
