Session 1844 <br />June 17, 2002 <br /> <br />he would also call Ms. Schnapp. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ,ABOUT THE EARLIER PROPOSED ZONING TEXT <br />AMENDMENTS: <br /> <br />Ms. Welsch said that she had received a number of calls from a constituent concerned <br />about the provision concerning truck lengths allowed for parking on the street. He says <br />that he could comply if he re,moves his bumper, otherwise he can't park there or get a <br />ticket. Several Councilmembers and Mayor Adams explained that the truck parking <br />issue is a very old controversy in the City and that basically it stems from the State not <br />differentiating between different classes of trucks. A truck is a commercial vehicle, <br />whether it is used as a private passenger vehicle or not. Mr. Ollendorff will get with Ms. <br />Welsch and attempt to explain this issue's long history to her. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENT ON RECENT SUPREME COURT RULINGS: <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff announced that the Supreme Court recently made a couple of decisions <br />that would affect local municipalities and specifically U. City. One decision involves the <br />City Council's authority to limit door to door callers and the second one deals with the <br />police no longer having to give rights before searches are made. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION: <br /> <br />Ms. Welsch moved to go into executive session per RSMo 610.021(1) to discuss legal <br />matters. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion. The executive session will begin at 8:25 <br />p.m. in the second floor conference room of City Hall. The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Ms. Colquitt, Mr. Munkel, Mr. Wagner, Mr. Lieberman, Ms. Welsch, Mr. Sharpe <br />and Mayor Adams.
