Firefighter Pension property tax rate this year. The Pension Board recommended <br />amortizing the surplus over 15-years and re-establishing the property rate for the <br />amount of the necessary contribution. After discussing this issue with the Deputy City <br />Manager, we believe that addressing this issue now at the maximum rate (.144), rather <br />than delaying the issue and increasing the unfunded liability. The increased levy will be <br />used solely for support of the police and fire pension plan. The other option would be to <br />begin the levy at a lower rate now and keep increasing the rate over the next several <br />years, which would require a larger ballot initiated increase in the near term. Adding the <br />pension levy at the maximum rate increases the total City levy as follows: <br />2006 Total Property Tax Levy $0.906 <br />2007 Total Proposed Property Tax Levy $0.927 <br />The County notified me this week that they plan to proceed on with the parking <br />restrictions on North and South. One of the original 31-traffic congestion mitigation <br />proposals due to the reconstruction of I-64 is located on North & South Road at <br />Delmar Blvd. This traffic flow improvement will restrict parking on North & South Road, <br />between Delmar Boulevard and Gannon Avenue, from 7-9 AM and 4-6 PM, Monday <br />through Friday, at existing metered parking spaces, to provide two northbound and two <br />southbound through lanes during weekday peak hours.
