<br />%·¤¢´³¨µ¤ 6¨¢¤ #§ ¢¤««®± ¥®± !£¬¨¨²³± ³¨® <br />July 28, 2016 <br />Mr.LehmanWalker <br />CityManager <br />CityofUniversityCity <br />6801DelmarBlvd. <br />St.Louis,MO63130 <br />Dear Mr. Walker, <br />Attached please find a proposal in which Washington University requests an easement <br />from University City to widen the pedestrian ramp on Greenway South which <br />connects to the Forest Park Parkway Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge. <br />The existingForest Park Parkway Bridge and ramp are eight and a half feet wide. The <br />minimum recommended widthof a joint use/pedestrian/cycling bridge in a high- <br />mixed-use, urban or suburban context is 12 feet. <br />Theattached proposal by Washington University describes a project which: <br />Widens thebridge and ramp to accommodate all users <br />Separates pedestrians and cyclists <br />Implements design featuresto reducethe speed ofcyclists <br />Provides more landscaping and environmentally sustainable elements to the <br />area around the ramp <br />Includes pedestrian-scale lighting and emergency blue phones <br />University officials completed a thorough outreach process to review the proposal <br />with residents in surrounding neighborhoods to seek their input and to add their <br />comments/suggestions to the design review. The University also has shared this <br />project with three University City Commissions and has received their endorsements. <br />In exchange for the easement, the University will build and maintain the pedestrian <br />ramp and landscape improvements as described in this proposal and maintain them in <br />perpetuity. <br />Attached is also a letter from Great Rivers Greenway indicating their support for this <br />project.Please let me know if you require any further information. <br />Sincerely, <br />Henry S.
