<br />RESOLUTION ON IMPLEMENTATION OF PROPOSITION K
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Proposition K, calling for lA of one percent raise in local sales tax, to provide renovated and
<br />expanded Heman Park Recreation Facilities for University City, has been approved by a majority of the voters
<br />on November 5th, 2002; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council, by a pre-election Resolution, promised a specific timeline in the implementation
<br />of the work to be done; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, that timeline was to include significant input from citizens during the design and contractual
<br />phases of the project; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, numerous public hearings, Town Hall meetings, advocacy and focus group meetings will be held
<br />to provide opportunities for public input, in addition to meetings of Neighborhood Associations and Block Units;
<br />and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Park Commission and the Proposition K Citizen's Committee are to provide official forums for
<br />citizen reaction, comments and suggestions, and are to submit final recommendations to the City Council.
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that, in order to achieve optimal public input, the City Council of
<br />University City supports 2002-2003 events including but not limited to the following:

<br />
<br /> · Recreation Center Final Concept recommendations: Aug. 19

<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that available City Council members who attend scheduled neighborhood
<br /> meetings shall present oral reports at a subsequent Council meeting, and that appropriate city staff shall
<br /> attend focus group and advocacy group meetings (as well as Park Commission meetings), record discussion
<br /> and provide written reports to the City Council.
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall be posted in public places and in all available media.
