Session 1881 <br />May 5, 2003 <br /> and due to this, no final decisions were made at the study session. <br /> <br />Mrs. Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel, stated that the 25 gallon recommendation for a <br />water slide was not sufficient and that its installation would require removing a <br />tree. <br /> <br />Mr. Munkel offered a motion to accept the recommendations of the Prop K <br />Committee with the additions listed by Councilmember Wagner. Mr. Sharpe <br />seconded. The motion was carried unanimously. <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS: <br /> <br />David Kennell, 1332 Purdue Avenue, stated that at the December Council <br />meeting, he gave a package to Mr. Sharpe, his councilperson. He gave <br />evidence against the use of pesticide sprays to eliminate mosquitoes that carry <br />the West Nile virus. He asked if the Council would be making a decision on the <br />issue soon. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams stated that the matter is under advisement. <br /> <br />Ms. Welsch asked him to name cities that have chosen not to spray and the <br />resulting death or infection rate. He stated that as of Autumn, 2002, the cities <br />were Washington, D.C. and Ft. Worth, TX and the state of Maine did not spray. <br />She stated that she wished to pursue the matter further. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner asked him to list the alternative methods, which he did. Mr. Kennell <br />provided a list which he gave to the City Clerk. <br /> <br />Jen Jensen, 706 Pennsylvania Avenue, asked if there was a status report on the <br />hole at Lewis Park which contained standing water. Mayor Adams said that he <br />would investigate. She also noted that the sewer near the two islands at the <br />north end of Lewis Park was backed up. <br /> <br />Kathy Straatman, 6823 Crest, came as a spokesperson for the Roth-Grove <br />Neighborhood Association.
