policies, initiatives, programs and projects in order to address and eliminate existing <br />disparities for racial and ethnic populations.U City asks the following questions when <br />making every major decision: <br />Whodoes this benefit? <br />Does this differentially impact racial and ethnic groups? <br />What is missing that will decrease or eliminate racial disparities? <br />The City of University City considersthe following to be key drivers of equity: <br />Advancing economic mobility and opportunity. <br />Promoting economic opportunities for marginalized populations and enhancing <br />community cultural anchors in all parts of the community. <br />Providing access to quality education, training, and living-wage career path jobs. <br />Building on local cultural assets. <br />Respecting local community character, cultural diversity, and values. <br />Preserving and strengthening cultural communities and building the capacity of <br />their leaders, organizations and coalitions to have greater self-determination. <br />Promoting transportation mobility and connectivity. <br />Prioritizing investment in effective and affordable transportation that supports <br />transit-dependent communities. <br />Developing healthy and safe neighborhoods. <br />Creating neighborhoods that enhance community health through access to public <br />amenities, healthy, affordable and safe environments for everyone. <br />Enabling equitable access to all neighborhoods. <br />Leveraging private developments to fill gaps in amenities, expand the supply and <br />variety of housing and employment choices, and create equitable access to <br />neighborhoods with high access to opportunity. <br />Economically integrate neighborhoods. <br />Insert and integrate into Parks and Open Spaces Chapter <br />U City will: <br />Set a goal of being energy net zero for city buildings and city owned <br />transportation.The plan should include energy efficiency audits and renewable <br />energy investments, following the guidelines of the Energy Efficiency, Renewable <br />Energy and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Policy (Ordinance 6956). <br />Ensure that the city’s evaluation of environmental insult –which means the <br />evaluation of the impact of pollution in U City –includes the use of a racial equity <br />lens. <br />Model cost effective energy sustainability for its residents and develop education <br />programs and financial resources to support residents in attaining the goal of <br />household net zero energy performance. <br />Develop a plan to reduce C02 emissions from its city fleet of vehicles as a <br />strategy to improve air quality. <br />Page 4 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
