Work to provide environmental education on ecosystems and work to restore <br />natural habitats using local expertise and enhance and improve land use and <br />open spaces in the city. <br />Work to mitigate local flooding from the River Des Peres, better manage storm <br />water and develop strategies to reduce potable water use. <br />Review its Green Building practices with an eye to incorporating guidelines and <br />components of LEED and Energy Star, as appropriate, in developing sustainable <br />operations and maintenance practices for existing buildings and facilities. <br />U City Boards and Commissions will review and integrate the Sustainability <br />Strategic Plan (adopted by the City <br />Council/2010http://apps.ucitymo.org/PublicPortal/Browse.aspx?startid=1) into <br />their own planning processes. <br />Revise building and zoning codes to align with sustainable design and practices <br />(e.g., Transit Oriented Development practices should be incorporated in the <br />Building and Zoning codes, free standing solar systems should be encouraged <br />within the code). <br />Economic Development <br />Understand regional perceptions about U City in 2016 and align planning efforts with <br />. <br />changing perceptions of the broader community <br />Insert on p. 87 section: <br />Equitable Development <br />Make policy and investment decisions in the City by applying a racial equity framework <br />that was first developed by the Ferguson Commission in 2015. <br />Objectives: <br />Proactively make targeted investments in Third Ward neighborhoods that <br />contribute to the wealth and regeneration of the area. <br />Make targeted investments in Third Ward neighborhoods to erase the historic <br />Delmar/Olive Divide, where race has defined quality of place. <br />Distribute City resources in a way that gives people from all racial backgrounds <br />the opportunity to thrive. <br />Invest additional resources along Olive Street Road corridor to achieve a <br />distinctive and vibrant mixed-use local and regional designation. <br />Invest additional resources in the Third Ward to economically integrate the <br />neighborhood. <br />To reviewand reviseat next meeting(1/24/17): <br />-Olive Boulevard section for goals etc. <br />-p. 89 review section titled “U City is Well-Known” <br />-Review “Implementation”section <br />Page 7 of 7 <br /> <br />
