<br />Economic Development Retail Sales Tax Board <br />6801 Delmar Boulevard University City, Missouri 63130 314-505-8500 Fax: 314-862-3168 <br />Meeting Summary <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT RETAIL SALES TAX BOARD <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />1.Welcome and Introductions <br />–Board ChairMark Winer welcomed the audience to the <br />public hearing. In attendance were Board member Robert Kuhlman, Ex-Offico member <br />Joe Edwards, and staff liaisons Andrea Riganti and Jodie Lloyd. <br />2.Economic Development Retail Sales Tax (EDRST) Overview– <br />Ms. Lloyd provided an <br />overview of the FY 18 requests for funds. The following 8 organizations applied for a <br />total of $1.14 million in funds. The FY 18 expected budget is $565,000 for programs and <br />projects: <br />1.University City Chamber of Commerce <br />2.Create SpaceGenerator <br />3.Mannequins on the Loop <br />4.Loop Special Business District <br />5.U City In Bloom <br />6.Midtown Farmer’s Market <br />7.Department of Public Works <br />8.Department of Community Development <br />3.Public Hearing <br />William Tucker <br />–Mr. Tucker supports the Midtown Farmers market. He stated that the <br />market is diverse and provides a place for people to congregate and listen to music. He <br />stated that people come from all over the region to shop at the market and then shop in the <br />Delmar Loop. He stated that the market provides a place for people of all ages to feel <br />welcome in the Delmar Loop. <br />Elizabeth Goodbrake <br />–Ms. Goodbrake works for the University City High School culinary <br />program. She indicated that the culinary program at the high school has grown exponentially <br />and that the students enjoy the experience of the Farmers Market. Students are able to <br />have hands-on learning through programs at the market. <br />Deb Henderson - <br />Ms. Henderson, Executive Director, Midtown Farmers Market. Ms. <br />Henderson stated that the Midtown Farmers Market is developing a program with the <br />culinary students at the high school to bring the high school into the market. <br />Ken Rice, <br />President, University City Chamber of Commerce –Mr. Rice thanked the EDRST <br />Board for all their support over the years for the Chamber programs and projects. He <br />indicated that the Chamber continues to be strong and to grow. The Taste event continues <br />to grow as does other Chamber programs, thanks to the support of the EDRST Board. <br /> <br />
