February 3, 2017 <br />From: Mary Adams, Executive Director, <br />University City Chamber of Commerce <br /> <br />To: Andrea Riganti, AICP Director <br />Department of Community Development, City of University City <br />Summary of requests for 2017-18 EDRST funding from the U City Chamber of Commerce <br />Attached please find our applications for funding from the EDRSTB for FY18 on behalf of the U City <br />Chamber of Commerce. A summary of the requests is as follows: <br />1.Education and Training: Continuation of Small Business Workshop Series – a well-rounded <br />curriculum of essential knowledge and tools to support small business success, retention and <br />growth in our City. $10,000 <br /> <br />2.Olive Link Development and Revitalization: continued coordination and development of Olive <br />Leadership Group, Regional Economic Development Partnership relationships and events, <br />additional published business profiles, and the development of a Property Owner’s Guide to <br />Becoming a Vibrant Business District. In addition, proposals for two quick-win visual <br />improvements along the Olive Link: installation of festive lighting for ethnic restaurants and <br />public art. $11,500 <br /> <br />3.City-wide Advertising and Marketing Campaign: Working to ensure that the entire City of U City <br />is promoted throughout the region through print, digital and social media marketing campaigns <br />that highlight community and regional events and promotions throughout all corners of U City. <br />Essential regional messaging and City branding with added videos in FY17 showing that U City is <br />a great place to live, work, play and do business. The only consistent marketing and ad <br />campaigns featuring the Olive Link, the Olive Ethnic Dining Guide, the Loop, a variety of City <br />attractions and events, as well as promotions for businesses in every business district. $36,000 <br /> <br /> <br />4.Taste of U City: Popular annual event featuring an ever growing number and variety of great U <br />City restaurants, Taste is quickly becoming a U City tradition. Now held in the beautiful <br />Mandarin House Banquet Center on Olive Boulevard, the venue is large enough to host ever- <br />increasing numbers of attendees. The event is promoted regionally and draws visitors from <br />other communities to experience the variety of foods to be enjoyed from all corners of U City. <br /> $7,000 <br /> <br />
