RESOLUTION

WHEREAS Bi-State/Metro has recently stated that it would not provide alternate routes
for traffic during the shutdown of Forest Park Parkway (Millbrook Blvd.) for the duration
of the proposed MetroLink Cross County construction project; and

WHEREAS during the shutdown severely reduced passage into and out of our University
City neighborhoods will become an overwhelming struggle for residents and a dangerous
obstacle for emergency vehicles; and

WHEREAS the resulting traffic jams will adversely impact our city's merchants.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the University City City Council requests
that St. Louis County Highways & Traffic Department, in cooperation with University
City Traffic staff, develop a detailed traffic rerouting plan. There are current requests
submitted to St. Louis County Highway & Traffic from University City that will alleviate
some of the expected traffic delays, and we urge high priority given to these requests
prior to the closure of Forest Park Parkway.

Adopted this 21st day of April, 2003
