Session 1898 <br />September 29, 2003 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9.24 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO WEAPONS, BY ENACTING THEREIN A <br />NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 9.24.080 OPEN CARRYING OF <br />FIREARMS PROHIBITED-EXCEPTIONS;" CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE <br />AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br />The bill was given its first reading and assigned Number 8682. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9.24 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO WEAPONS, BY ENACTING THEREIN A <br />NEW SECTION TO BEKNOWN AS "SECTION 9.24.090 CONCEALED <br />FIREARMS PROHIBITED IN CITY BUILDINGS-EXCEPTIONS;" CONTAINING A <br />SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br />The bill was given its first reading and assigned Number 8683. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9.24 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO WEAPONS, BY ENACTING THEREIN A <br />NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 9.24.100 CARRYING <br />CONCEALED FIREARMS BY CONCEALED CARRY ENDORSEMENT <br />HOLDERS PROHIBITED IN CERTAIN LOCATIONS-EXCEPTIONS;" <br />CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br />The bill was given its first reading and assigned Number 8684. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9.24 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO WEAPONS, BY ENACTING THEREIN A <br />NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 9.24.110 DISPLAY OF <br />CONCEALED CARRY ENDORSEMENT REQUIRED UPON REQUEST OF <br />PEACE OFFICER;" CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A <br />PENALTY. <br /> <br />The bill was given its first reading and assigned Number 8685. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams expressed his chagrin over the necessity to introduce these bills, which <br />resulted from a decision of the State Legislature to override a veto of a measure <br />prohibiting the carrying of a concealed weapon. Ms. Welsch commented that it was <br />"appearing to disallow the will of the people of this state." Mr. Ollendorff commended the <br />Mayor and the City Council for taking action to introduce these bills this evening, adding <br />that he is not in favor of guns, especially where he lives and works, and is pleased they <br />are taking action to protect him, University City employees and citizens to the maximum <br />amount allowed by the law. <br /> <br />Page 11 <br /> <br /> <br />
