Compared to January through March 2007, the City has seen
a significant increase in residents bringing their refuse accounts current. The City has
collected nearly $250,000 in the first three months of 2008, which is far above the prior
two-year average for those same months. We also entered into numerous payment
agreements with many residents. The City is currently working on establishing a
collection program for residents who meet federal poverty standards.
