Policies and Qualifications for <br />Low Income Residents with Delinquent <br />Trash Bills <br />Purpose: R <br />efuse account holders that have been unable to meet the requirements of <br />2008 Delinquent Trash Bill Collection Enhancement Program <br />payment options of the <br />and who have household income that meets the U.S. Department of Health and Human <br />Services Federal Poverty Guidelines, will be eligible for a one-time reduction of their <br />delinquent trash bills outlined below. <br />The level of relief will be tied to poverty guidelines below: <br />Persons in HHS Poverty Level and 150% of HH Poverty <br />Household Below Level <br />Very Low Income Low Income <br />1$10,400 $15,600 <br />2$14,000 $21,000 <br />3$17,600 $26,400 <br />4$21,200 $31,800 <br />5$24,800 $37,200 <br />6$32,000 $42,000 <br />7$35,600 $53,400 <br />For each additional person, add $3600 at poverty level and $5400 at 150% of <br />poverty level. <br />To determine whether a household meets any of these poverty guidelines, residents must <br />produce evidence of their income, including a copy of a Federal Tax return or all other <br />supporting documentation. They must list income for all members of the household. <br />They would also have to provide information on their additional liquid assets. Once the <br />household income is established, the Department of Finance will make accommodations <br />for citizens in household with income less than 150% of the federal poverty rates. <br />Differing levels of relief could be offered for those below the poverty line and those <br />between the poverty line and 150% of the HHS poverty line. <br /> Below is a sample of types of accommodations that could be made: <br />2008 HH Poverty Level and below 150% of 2008 HH Poverty Level to HH <br />Poverty Level <br />Waive all interest. <br />Waive one-half of the interest. Monthly <br />Monthly payments on principal until debt payments until debt paid in full. <br />paid in full. <br />Waive all interest. Monthly payments on Waive one-half of the interest; monthly <br />principal until debt paid in full. payments until debt paid in full. <br />Who is eligible? <br />Income eligible customers, regardless of age. <br />The total annual household income for the previous year is less than 150% of the <br />Health and Human Services (HHS) poverty guidelines. <br /> <br />
