Economic Development Retail Sales Tax Board <br />On Thursday, April 24 at 7 pm the <br />will meet in the EOC at City Hall to discuss the proposed budget for FY 09. The <br />proposed budget includes Ackert Walkway Pedestrian Lighting ($100,000), Olive Blvd. <br />improvements (matching funds) ($280,000), Olive Blvd. Theme Identity ($50,000), <br />Community Development operations ($40,000), Marketing Program for Developers <br />($30,000), and Delmar Parking Lot Rebuild ($50,000). These improvements are based <br />on projected annual tax revenue of $550,000. At its last meeting, the Board approved <br />$12,500 for the installation of Delmar signs to be added to the FY 08 budget. Any <br />questions should be directed to the Director of Community Development, Lehman <br />Walker at 505-8502. <br /> <br />On Thursday, April 24 at 7pm the Historical Society of University City will host a lecture <br />by Ms. Mary Ann Shaw, Vice President and Executive Director of U City In Bloom, on <br />Heirloom Gardens <br />, a historic perspective on the gardens in University City. The <br />lecture will be held at the University City Library in the Auditorium. <br /> <br />The City has sent the paperwork to St. Louis County to purchase five (5) properties on <br />Bartmer and Crest <br /> for redevelopment. The properties are vacant lots that have been <br />held by the County Trustee’s office for many years. The City had the opportunity to <br />purchase the lots for $27.00 each, to cover the recording fees. Shortly, the City will put <br />out an RFP for development of these lots for single-family “green” housing. <br /> <br />bulk items <br />The Sanitation Division has successfully completed collecting in the East <br />Area of new collection schedule. The Department of Public Works received only 16 <br />requests from residents who placed bulk items at the curb after we collected in their <br />area. They allocated one crew to pick-up this material. They will continue to pick up bulk <br />items by request only for the East Area until tomorrow, Friday, April 18. The Central <br />Area will have its bulk items picked up next week. These items must be put out by <br />th <br />residents on Sunday evening, April 20. The Expo is intended to educate seniors and their families about services and <br />products that help them live a healthy and active lifestyle. Information will be available <br />about senior living, geriatric care management, adult day centers, brain exercises, <br />financial planning, reverse mortgages, home care services and much more. Seniors will <br />also be able to enjoy health screenings, healthy snacks, raffle prizes and giveaways, <br /> <br />
