<br /> <br />? <br /> Additional District within municipal boundaries will increase the tax levy <br />immediately and increase competition for property taxes over time for the <br />School District and the City. <br />? <br /> Lose local control and pride of “ownership” <br />? <br /> Potential for greater staff retention <br /> <br />The Mid-County Fire District agreed to split the cost of $30,000 for an independent study of <br />the operation and cost of the University City’s fire department by itself or consolidating with <br />a district. <br /> <br />A majority of the Council did not want to have the proposed $15,000 study done as a first <br />step. A majority favored keeping the second pumper but extending its “life” and to <br />continue with budgeted item for FY 08 to replace Firehouse 1 floor. A majority of the <br />Council agreed to freeze the staff at the current minimum level of eleven. The Council <br />asked the City Manager to find out if surrounding municipalities with municipal fire <br />departments, would be interested in consolidation. <br /> <br />Meeting was adjourned at 6:25 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />Joyce Pumm, <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
