The wheel loader is used to load rock, mulch, trees, dirt, salt, asphalt <br />and other items. The current wheel loader is 18 years old and has over 21,000 hours <br />of service time. The normal replacement schedule is 10 years, however, the <br />replacement was extended to help save funds. At this time replacement is required <br />because the current loader’s engine, cooling system and bucket are completely worn, <br />and the hydraulics are weak. Funds have been set aside annually in a replacement <br />fund for the purchase of this equipment. <br />BID RESULTS: <br />Vendor Amount <br />Pat Kelley $106,762 <br />Erb Equipment $103,000 <br />Luby Equipment $117,748 <br />The Fleet Maintenance Division has experience with both Erb and Luby, and also <br />with the equipment bid. Erb Equipment has a good record of accomplishment for <br />delivering quality equipment on schedule and for availability of needed parts. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the bid to Erb Equipment for the <br />purchase of a wheel loader for $103,000. <br /> <br />
