RESOLUTION <br /> <br />Whereas: <br /> <br />Whereas' <br /> · <br /> <br />Whereas' <br /> · <br /> <br />Whereas: <br /> <br />Whereas' <br /> <br />the cities of University City, Missouri, and Atascadero, <br />California, share a common history in that both cities were <br />founded by Edward G. Lewis; and <br /> <br />the University City Hall was built in 1903 and the Atascadero <br />City Hall was built in 1918; and <br /> <br />Lewis's vision was to make them both into model cities; and <br /> <br />Atascadero suffered calamity from a devastating earthquake <br />recorded on December 22, 2003, which struck the California <br />Central Coast and San Simeon area, measuring 6.5 on the <br />Richter Scale at is epicenter seven miles northeast of San <br />Simeon area; and <br /> <br />the Atascadero City Administration Building and more than <br />two hundred homes suffered damage estimated at more than <br />twenty million dollars. <br /> <br />We, the City Council of University City, Missouri <br /> Hereby Resolve <br /> <br />that we express our heartfelt support for the Atascadero community <br /> <br />Passed this <br /> <br />as it recovers and rebuilds from this natural disaster <br />with sincere hope for restoration of damaged historical artifacts <br />in the City Administration Building. <br /> <br /> ~ day of February 2004. ~~/~~ <br /> Joseph L.
