ORDINANCE NO. <br />BILL NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI <br />AMENDING CITY ORDINANCE NO. 6722 AND TITLES V AND XII <br />OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING THE <br />REGULATION AND PERMITTING OF NEWS BOXES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY <br />CITY, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. <br />Ordinance No. 6722 and Title 5, Business Licenses and Regulations, of the <br />University City Municipal Code are hereby amended by repealing Chapter 5.100, News <br />Box Distributors, and by adopting in lieu thereof a new Section 12.04.22, to read as <br />follows: <br />Title 12 Streets, Sidewalks and Public Places, <br /> And Trees and Shrubs <br />Chapter 12.04 Streets and Sidewalks Generally <br />Section 12.04.220 News Box Distributors <br />A. Definitions <br />For the purposes of this article, the following words or phrases shall have <br />the meanings ascribed to them in this section: <br />Director.The director of the City’s Public Works Department or such <br />other official chosen by the director to administer and enforce this <br />section. <br />Distributor. Any person, association of persons, firm, or corporation <br />responsible, in whole or part, jointly or severally, for locating, placing, <br />installing, stocking, or maintaining one or more news boxes in or on any <br />sidewalk, public right-of-way, or other public place in the city. <br />News box. Any self-service box, container, storage unit, newspaper <br />vending box, or other printed material distribution device, whether coin- <br />operated or operated free of charge, that is located, placed, used, or <br />maintained for the display, distribution, or sale of printed material. <br /> <br />
