<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor Adams and Council <br /> <br />From: Julie Feier, City Manager <br /> <br />Date: September 26, 2008 <br /> <br />Subject: Weekly Update <br /> <br />Reminder <br />: This Monday September 29 at 5:30 pm, City Council will hold an emergency <br />meeting in the EOC room in the basement of City Hall regarding the flood and efforts to <br />assist flood victims. <br /> <br />Flood Assessment Update is attached. <br /> <br />Micro-SurfacingInc <br />Beginning today, Fri., Sept. 26, ,. will be working on the following <br />streets as scheduled below, weather permitting: <br />1. Pershing Ave: From Linden to Purdue Ave – September 26 <br />2. Old Bonhomme Rd: From McKnight to Delmar Blvd – September 29 and 30 <br />3. Groby Rd: From Old Bonhomme to Olive Blvd – October 1 thru 3 <br />4. Canton Ave: From North and South Rd to Pennsylvania Ave. – October 6 thru 8 <br />The project will be completed in approximately 3 weeks. Work will start on parking lane <br />and then move to traffic lane. During work hours portions of the streets may be closed <br />to traffic, but vehicles will be allowed if necessary. Micro-Surfacing Inc, has placed no <br />parking signs on the streets as well as delivered notices to all residents in the affected <br />areas. For more information, contact Angelica Gutierrez at 505-8568. <br /> <br />On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3 & 4 from 9 am to 4 pm, U City in Bloom will hold its <br />annual bulb sale <br /> at 6630 Delmar (across from Market in the Loop). The sale of spring <br />bulbs helps fund this fabulous non-profit organization that is responsible for planting and <br />maintaining over 200 flower beds around the city. Ittner <br />On Saturday, Oct. 3, the will induct architect <br />(born 1864), who designed 50 magnificent school buildings in St. Louis alone and over <br />500 across the nation. He devoted his life to improving education through better school <br />design, featuring natural lighting, inviting exteriors and classrooms tailored for specific <br />needs (complex patterned brick work, stain-glass windows with small animals for <br />kindergarten classrooms), rather than prison-like school that pre-dominated public <br />education. St. Louis is blessed to have so many of these works of art still in existence <br />and are a must-see when touring St. Louis. He also designed the Scottish Rite <br />Cathedral (1921) and the Continental Building (1929). The induction ceremony will be <br /> <br />
