Council will need to <br />decide if you wish to transfer funding from the general fund to the Sutter-Meyer Society. <br />The west half of I-64 will reopen two weeks early and the public is invited to a <br />celebration on the new highway December 14 <br />. The west half of the Interstate 64 <br />reconstruction project will reopen to traffic two weeks ahead of schedule. Motorists will <br />be able to use the new section of highway between I-270 and I-170 on Monday, <br />December 15, which is ahead of the original December 31 completion date. The <br />eastern half of the project, from I-170 to Kingshighway, will close simultaneously, <br />before morning rush on December 15 and will remain closed through December <br />31, 2009. The public is invited to view the new highway before it opens to traffic. An <br />opening celebration will be held on Sunday, December 14 from noon to 3 p.m. The <br />eastbound lanes will be open from Ballas to Brentwood with pedestrian access at any <br />interchange. The official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. on I-64 <br />between McCutcheon and Brentwood. The Frontenac / Town & Country Chamber of <br />Commerce will be offering carriage rides on the highway between Lindbergh and <br />Spoede Road. Other activities available that day includes a 5K run, cycling time trial and <br />fun bike ride on the westbound lanes. Public parking for the December 14 ceremony <br />will be available at the Metro-Meridian Garage on Eager Road with free shuttles <br />provided by Metro to the Brentwood ramp at I-64. Frontenac is offering public parking <br />at the Frontenac Hilton and Le Chateau located on Lindbergh and Clayton Road. Public comment is also being accepted tonight and on the December 16. <br />Persons wishing to comment or ask questions must sign up before the meeting begins. <br />Forms are available in the back of the Board Room. Ms. Eastman will report to you <br />shortly about the recommendations and process. <br />On Wednesday, December 17at 6:30 PM at City Hall in the EOC room (off the <br />Civic Series 102 <br />basement level entrance), the first session in the will be held. Deputy <br />taxes <br />City Manager and Finance Director, Janet Watson will give a presentation on “”. <br />She will explain where the City’s revenue comes from and where your property tax <br />dollars go. She will discuss the limitations on the City in raising taxes and what means <br />are still available to the City in meeting its needs. Ms. Watson will also explain the <br />unique pool versus point-of- sale sales tax schedule that is in place in St. Louis County <br />and how important it is to cities without huge retail establishments. For anyone wanting <br />to understand “taxes”, this meeting is for you.
