<br />To: Honorable Mayor Adams and Council <br />From: Julie Feier, City Manager <br />Date: December 26, 2008 <br />Subject: Weekly Update <br />budget transfers <br />There were no approved under the authority of the City Manager for <br />the first quarter of Fiscal Year 09. <br />The County notified Chief Adams that they intended to increase the speed limit <br />on Delmar through University City <br />, thanks to the assistance of County Councilwoman <br />Fraser, the County agreed to keep the existing speed limits in place due to our heavy <br />pedestrian traffic. All other locations referenced in the letter will remain in effect. The <br />relevant correspondence is attached. <br />Hanley Road Bridge to Close Next Monday Morning. <br /> Reconstruction of the Hanley <br />Road Bridge over I-64 will begin Monday morning, December 29, with the closure of the <br />bridge's southbound lanes before morning rush hour. Crews with Gateway Constructors <br />will start work at about 7 AM by placing some temporary pavement and performing the <br />restriping needed to reroute traffic around the closure. Once this is complete, the <br />northbound lanes of Hanley will also be closed. Demolition of the bridge is scheduled for <br />December 31. The Hanley Road bridge reconstruction will last up to eight months. <br />While the bridge is under construction southbound Hanley traffic will be detoured at <br />Clayton Road to either Brentwood Boulevard or Big Bend Boulevard. Local traffic will be <br />allowed as far south as Hanley Downs. Northbound traffic will be routed west on Eager <br />Road to I-170 or Brentwood Boulevard. <br />The School District will host their twenty-third annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. <br />Birthday Celebration on Sunday, January 18 <br />. The program will begin at 3:30 PM in <br />the High School Auditorium, 7401 Balson Avenue. Transportation to the program will <br />be available this year.
