INTRODUCED BY: Mr. Sharpe, Jr. DATE: October 27, 2008 <br />90096759 <br />BILL NO.: ORDINANCE NO.: <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9.20 OF THE UNIVERSITY <br />CITY MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO OFFENSES BY OR AGAINST <br />MINORS, BY REPEALING SECTION 9.20.020 THEREOF, RELATING <br />TO CURFEW, AND BY REPEALING SECTION 9.20.030 THEREOF, <br />RELATING TO UNLAWFUL FOR PARENT, GUARDIAN OR OTHER <br />ADULT TO PERMIT CURFEW VIOLATION, AND ENACTING IN LIEU <br />THEREOF NEW SECTIONS TO BE KNOWN AS “SECTION 9.20.020 <br />CURFEW”, AND “SECTION 9.20.030 UNLAWFUL FOR PARENT, <br />GUARDIAN OR OTHER ADULT, TO PERMIT VIOLATION”, THEREBY <br />AMENDING SAID SECTIONS SO AS TO CHANGE THE CURFEW TIME <br />TO BETWEEN THE HOURS OF TEN P.M. AND SIX A.M. ON ALL DAYS; <br />CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING PENALTY. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY <br />CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Chapter 9.20 of the University City Municipal Code relating to <br />offenses by or against minors, is hereby amended by repealing Section 9.20.020 <br />thereof, relating to curfew, and by repealing Section 9.20.030 thereof, relating to <br />unlawful for parent, guardian or other adult to permit curfew violation, and <br />enacting in lieu thereof new sections to be known as “Section 9.20.020 Curfew”, <br />and “Section 9.20.030 Unlawful for parent, guardian or other adult to permit <br />violation”; so that said sections, as so amended, shall read as follows: <br />9.20.020 Curfew. <br /> It is unlawful for any minor under the age of seventeen (17) years to <br />loiter, idle, wander, stroll or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, <br />alleys, parks, playgrounds or other public grounds, public places and public <br />buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots or other <br />unsupervised places, between the hours of ten p.m. and six a.m. of the following <br />day, official city time; however, the provisions of this section shall not apply to a <br />minor accompanied by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having <br />the care and custody of the minor, or where the minor is upon an emergency <br />errand or legitimate business directed by his or her parent, guardian or other <br />adult person having the care and custody of the minor. <br />9.20.030 Unlawful for parent, guardian or other adult, to permit <br />curfew violation. <br /> <br />
