ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10.36 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY MUNICIPAL <br />CODE, RELATING TO REGULATIONS FOR SPECIFIC STREETS, BY REPEALING <br />SECTION 10.36.190 THEREOF, RELATING TO THROUGH TRAFFIC PROHIBITED ON <br />CERTAIN STREETS AT ALL TIMES OR DURING DESIGNATED HOURS AND <br />ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS “SECTION <br />10.36.190 THROUGH TRAFFIC PROHIBITED ON CERTAIN STREETS AT ALL TIMES <br />OR DURING DESIGNATED HOURS,” THEREBY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO AS <br />TO PROHIBIT THROUGH TRAFFIC AT ALL TIMES ON LIBERTY AVENUE FROM <br />HANLEY TO THE NORTH CITY LIMITS; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND <br />PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE City of University City, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Chapter 10.36 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to regulations for specific streets, <br />is hereby amended by repealing Section 10.36.190 thereof, relating to through traffic prohibited on certain <br />streets at all times or during designated hours, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be known as <br />“Section 10.36.190 Through traffic prohibited on certain streets at all times or during designated hours,” <br />thereby amending said section so as TO PROHIBIT THROUGH TRAFFIC AT ALL TIMES ON LIBERTY <br />AVENUE FROM HANLEY TO THE NORTH CITY LIMITS; so that said section, as so amended, shall <br />read as follows: <br />10.36.190 Through traffic prohibited on certain streets at all times or during designated hours. <br />A. Through traffic is prohibited during the hours of seven a.m. to nine a.m. and three-thirty p.m. to 6:00 <br />p.m., Monday through Friday, between Olive Boulevard and Etzel Avenue, on Bartmer, Colby and Purcell <br />Avenues. <br />B. Through traffic is prohibited at all times on Arcadia Street between Pennsylvania and Partridge Avenues <br />on Liberty Avenue between Hanley Avenue and the North City Limits <br />and. <br />C. The director of public works shall erect and maintain suitable signs giving notice that such through traffic <br />is prohibited. <br />E. It is unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle in violation of this section. (Ord. 6138 § 1, 1997: <br />prior code § 21-174.3) <br />Section 2. This ordinance shall not be construed so as to relieve any person, firm or corporation from any <br />penalty heretofore incurred by the violation of Chapter 10.44, Section 10.44.020, nor bar the prosecution for <br />any such violation. <br />Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon <br />conviction thereof, be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1.12, section 1.12.010 of the University <br />City Municipal Code. <br />Section 4.
