BILL NO.______ ORDINANCE NO.___________ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10.08 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO TRAFFIC SIGNS AND SIGNALS, BY ENACTING AND ADDING THERETO TWO NEW SECTIONS AND ESTABLISHING THE PROCEDURE FOR CHANGE OF STREET NAME AND THE STREET NAME CHANGE DESIGNATIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE City of University City, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 10.08 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to Traffic Signs and Signals is amended by enacting and adding thereto two new sections as follows: 10.08.070 Procedure for Change of Street Name 1. Petitions for change of street name(s) shall be filled with the Public Works Department on forms approved by the Public Works Director. Each petition shall identify by address all properties affected by the request and shall contain the signatures of all affected property owners who agree to the proposed change. Each petition shall be accompanied by an application filing fee. 2. The Public Works Department reviews the petition. The Director shall consult with the Mapping Division of the Department of Revenue and determine whether the majority of affected property owners favor the street name change, whether the change could be made without undue confusion in the provision of emergency, mail and other services, and the cost of signage for the proposed change. Once all requirements are completed and upon receipt of the cost of signage from the petitioner, the Public Works Director will forward a copy of the submittal to the Community Development Department, Fire Department and Police Department for review. For streets intersecting county or state roads, an informational copy will be provided to the St. Louis County Highways and Traffic Department and/or the Missouri Department of Transportation. 3. If no objections, the name change petition will be submitted by the Public Works Director to the Traffic Commission for review. The traffic Commission will make a recommendation to the City Council. The City Council may effectuate the petitioned change of street name(s). 10.08.080 Street Name Change Designations The following streets have been designated with names changes: Street Name LocationName Changed To HARVARDFrom Delmar to the north line of SGT MIKE KING roadDR Section 2.
