environmental and efficiency improvements at our generating plants, and the costs of
fuel for those plants." In addition to making continued reliability improvements, Ameren
plans to introduce a series of new programs later in 2009 to help homes and businesses
save money and help the environment by using energy more efficiently.
MML Legislative Conference
The will be held on February 18-19 at the Jefferson City
Capitol Plaza Hotel. The first is to prohibit in redeveloping
blighted areas and the second would require a court determination that a nuisance
exists before the municipality could abate. The Missouri Municipal League believes
strongly that the proposed amendments to eminent domain would not only add to legal
fees and time delays but also deprive Missouri of key incentives available to other
states to attract new development. The proposed amendments would severely restrict
economic development in this State at a time when economic development is already
suffering from the dramatic blows of the 2008 financial markets. The MML has joined a
coalition of private sector groups to file a lawsuit to prevent these two proposals from
appearing on the 2010 ballot. In 2006 and 2008, the petitioners failed to gather sufficient
petitions to place these issues on the ballot.
Upcoming Meetings and Events:
Monday, February 9: 5:30 PM Study Session, Ballot Initiatives Cont.
6:30 PM Council Meeting
Thursday, February 19: 6:30 PM Civic Series, Public Works
Monday, February 23: 5:30 PM Study Session, Council Rules and Procedures
6:30 PM Council Meeting
Thursday, March 12: 6:30 PM Civic Series, Ethics, Conflict of Interest
Monday, March 23: 5:30 PM Study Session, Purchasing Bidding Procedures
6:30 PM Council Meeting
Monday, April 6: 5:30 PM Study Session
6:30 PM Council Meeting
Monday, April 20: 5:30 PM Study Session
6:30 Council Meeting
Thursday, April 23: Budget Meeting Canceled
Monday, April 27: 6:30 PM Budget Meeting & Public Forum
* Topics subject to change as schedules require.
Attachments:
WU’s Commitment Letter RE: Park Planning
PW Week in Review
Library Events Flyer
County League Update
Residency Waivers
Flood Meeting Communication Memo
