Currently the St. Louis Community Action Agency offers this service to low <br />income residents. However, the new monies will be used to expand the services to <br />moderate-income residents as well. The City and the Community Action Agency plans <br />to hold home weatherization workshops in University City to help citizens understand <br />what is available to them and how they can accomplish energy savings themselves. <br />Weatherization is a part of the focus of the City’s Green Practices Committee. <br />Individuals interested in weatherization assessments and potential assistance should <br />contact Rich Krueger the Energy Conservation/Education Outreach Coordinator for the <br />Community Action Agency at 446-4424 or rich@caastlc.org. <br />Free the Forest <br />Celebrate “” with the Green Center and the River des Peres Watershed <br />Coalition on Saturday, April 4, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Enjoy a spring day in Ruth Park <br />Woods and lend a hand to improve this great local resource! Volunteers are needed to <br />plant native trees and shrubs, remove weedy invasive species, and collect litter along <br />the trail and river. Scouts and service groups are welcome. All tools and equipment will <br />be provided. Follow the signs to the worksite along the northern edge of Ruth Park <br />Woods. Registration table and refreshments will be located at the corner of McKnight <br />and Crixdale. Citizens for <br />Mass Transit will present a free program on walking and using mass transit as <br />alternatives to driving one’s own car on Tuesday, April 7, 9:30 a.m., Library Auditorium. <br />Participants will receive a free Ten Toe tote bag, which includes a pedometer, weekly <br />walk logs and food diaries, MetroLink tickets, St. Louis maps, safety tips, and more than <br />60 suggested walking tours.
