In addition to the moving costs, suitable lots within University City would need <br />to be identified. <br />Northmoor residents <br /> met the evening of March 2 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish <br />School Cafeteria to review the Fire Department’s public safety concern regarding <br />parking on the narrow sections of the street impeding emergency vehicles. As you have <br />seen in previous photos of the Fire Pumper, the driver has a difficult time getting to an <br />emergency. The street varies from 22 feet to 38 feet. As indicated below, the standard <br />recommends elimination of parking on both sides in areas between 22 and 28 feet. <br />However, in an attempt to compromise with neighbor concerns, City staff is proposing <br />parking on only one side of the street in all areas less than 28 feet in width. AASHTO-1990 <br />The areas identified for the meeting were 7045 to 7117 Northmoor and from Asbury Ave <br />to the western city limit. All these areas present a width of the street less than 28 feet. <br /> While residents present at the meeting (around 70) overwhelmingly preferred no <br />change to parking, if they were forced to choose a back up, or “pick their poison”, the <br />parking restriction choice would be to proceed with a chicane pattern. By altering the <br />parking restriction block by block in which case the visual would encourage drivers to <br />drive at slower speeds than opening the street up on one side. <br />“S” Curbs were also discussed as a possible structural change. At least twenty <br />residents expressed an interest. Should the residents petition to proceed with a NID to <br />fund the project, the City could be impacted financially as a property owner depending <br />on the boundaries of the NID.
