Council Agenda Item Cover <br />________________________________________________________________ <br />MEETING DATE: <br /> March 23, 2009 <br />AGENDA ITEM TITLE: <br /> Petition for Residential Parking Permit on the 7000 and <br />7100 blocks of Forsyth (North side only) <br />from 9 am to 9 pm, except Sundays. <br />AGENDA SECTION: <br /> Consent <br />CAN THIS ITEM BE RESCHEDULED? : <br />YES <br />BACKGROUND REVIEW: <br />On February 11, 2009, the Traffic Commission recommended that a Residential Parking <br />Permit on the 7000 and 7100 blocks of Forsyth (North side only) from 9 am to 9 pm, <br />except Sundays, be implemented (minutes the meeting attached). <br />The petition was signed by the owners of record of at least two-thirds (2/3) by area of all <br />real property located within the north side of the 7000 and 7100 blocks of Forsyth Blvd. <br />Petition attached includes: <br />Residential Parking Permit Petition describes the problems caused by non- <br />resident parking. <br />Signatures representing 83% of the residents in approval of the petition. Of <br />a total of 23 properties on the north side of the 7000 and 7100 blocks of <br />Forsyth Blvd, nineteen (19) supported the petition. <br /> Records of parking violation information from 7000 and 7100 Forsyth Blvd. <br />reported by residents for the last 4 years. <br />Pictures showing parking demand on Forsyth Blvd. <br />Per Section 10.40.030 Residential Parking Permit, a petition may be granted if the street <br />is located within two blocks of Washington University and the problems caused by <br />nonresident parking on the block are chronic and well-documented. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> The Public Works Department considers that the <br />recommendation of the Traffic Commissioners be reviewed and approved by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />
