<br /> <br /> MetroLink service to run every 15 minutes during rush hours and every 20 <br />minutes during off-peak hours. <br /> <br />Mr. Cali stated that Metro will be back to University City to ask for their input for <br />their long range plan. Call-a-Ride Service is required within an area of fixed <br />transportation service and when a route is eliminated it also eliminates Call-a- <br />Ride within a radius where there will no longer be any bus service. <br /> <br />2. Parks, Recreation and Forestry Director Nancy MacCartney spoke on proposed <br />park fees. City Manager requested approval of Park fee schedules as presented. <br />Ms. MacCartney said that the changes basically were to: <br /> <br /> increase the fees of picnic shelters, <br /> <br /> reduction in fees for the aquatic programs to encourage more aquatic <br />aerobics and in recruiting more life guards, <br /> <br /> increase cost recovery of day camps and <br /> <br /> change recreation programs to reflect the market demand <br />Ms. MacCartney stated that is had been approved unanimously by the Parks <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved to accept the proposed fees as presented, seconded by Mr. <br />Sharpe and was approved unanimously. <br /> <br />3. Heman Park Pool needs in order to be compliant with the Federal Virginia <br />Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. City Manager requested approval from <br />Council to use $14,480 from the City’s contingency fund to fund the new grate <br />requirement mandated by the Federal Government. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert asked if there was a contingency plan if the grates were not available <br />by opening day or if the Natatorium would be available. Ms. MacCartney said <br />that there was a fine of 15 million dollars by the Federal government. She stated <br />that the school district owns the pool used for the Natatorium and that would be <br />their call, as it is not in compliance either. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert moved to use money from the City’s contingency fund to purchase <br />grates needed to be in compliance with the Federal government for the Heman <br />Park swimming pool, seconded by Mr. Wagner and was approved unanimously. <br /> <br />4. Forsyth parking petition request. <br />Mr. Wagner presented the context of the petition for parking permit on the north <br />side of Forsyth. He explained the parking problems on the north side and the <br />problems on the south side of Forsyth, since they had a lane taken away to make <br />it an extra drive lane, while Highway 40 is under construction. He suggested <br />accepting this petition with its implementation being delayed until Highway 40 <br />construction was completed and the extra lane on Forsyth was returned for <br />parking. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow offered his and Mr. Wagner’s support to the residents on the south side <br />of Forsyth to also put in a permit parking system as well, which could not be <br />implemented until Highway 40 is completed and the County restricted lane on <br /> <br />
