Session 1922 <br />May 17, 2004 <br /> <br />overlook spare tires in the front yard, people undertaking maintenance of seven cars in <br />the street, people installing a pond in the back yard, storing their garbage cans in her <br />driveway and generating an oil slick, and too many people living in the house. Also, she <br />cited a house across from her property on Abbeville Drive which has ten children living <br />in a three-bedroom house with two adults. Their yard is unkempt, garbage cans <br />overflow, and there is no garage to house their possessions. She has been cited for <br />lacking batteries in her smoke alarm and has been taken to court for a pool at Eighty- <br />First Street which she no longer owns, yet the City allows these inconsistencies to <br />persist. She wants these problems addressed and she asked what she could do to <br />improve the situation. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams advised her that she had taken the first step by contacting the City staff <br />with these issues. <br /> <br />BILLS FOR SECOND AND THIRD READING: <br /> <br />none. <br /> <br />BILLS FOR INTRODUCTION: <br /> <br />1. Ms. Welsch introduced Bill 8713 which was given its first reading: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A FINAL SUBDIVISION PLAT OF A <br />TRACT OF LAND TO BE KNOWN AS GORDON'S CONDOMINIUM <br />OF UNIVERSITY CITY AND LOCATED AT 7945 DELMAR. <br /> <br />2. Ms. Welsch introduced Bill 8714 which was given its first reading: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34 OF THE CITY CODE, <br />RELATING TO ZONING, BY REPEALING SECTION 34-61.1 THEREOF <br />RELATING TO FENCE HEIGHT, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF <br />A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 34-61.1 ," TO ALLOW <br />AN EXCEPTION FOR POST HEIGHT; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE <br />AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br />COMMENTS <br /> <br />Ms. Welsch commented that she received comments from her constituents relating to <br />the contract with Midwest Pools which she conveyed to the City Manager, to ensure <br />their "interpretation of the letter sent by Midwest Pools is clarified in the contract."
