Session 1717, Minutes 14 <br />March 16, 1998 <br /> <br />PURPOSE, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN <br />AS "SECTION 34-40.1. INTENT AND PURPOSE," THEREBY AMENDING SAID <br />SECTION SO AS TO STATE THE INTENT REGARDING COMPATIBILITY WITH <br />ABUTTING RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE <br />AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br />The bill was assigned No. 8379 and given its first reading. <br /> <br />A bill was introduced by Mr. Sharpe, entitled: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF <br />UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO ZONING, BY REPEALING SECTION 34-162.4 <br />THEREOF, RELATING TO ZONING CODE AMENDMENTS - CITY COUNCIL <br />ACTION, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS <br />"SECTION 34-162.4. CITY COUNCIL ACTION," THEREBY AMENDING SAID <br />SECTION SO AS TO REQUIRE THAT ANY PETITION AGAINST A PROPOSED <br />AMENDMENT BE FILED AT LEAST SEVEN (7) DAYS PRIOR TO THE PUBLIC <br />HEARING; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br />The bill was assigned No. 8380 and given its first reading. <br /> <br />LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS' IMMUNITY: <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman wanted to recognize, in the minutes, the recent U.S. Supreme Court <br />decision which granted full immunity for local elected officials against liability lawsuits <br />for proposing or voting on municipal legislation. <br /> <br />MISCELLANEOUS: <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner, on behalf of Council, wished to congratulate Assistant City Manager <br />Gregory Rose and his wife Sonya, on the arrival of their new baby girl. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br /> <br />Mayor Adams announced that the next regular meeting for the City Council would be <br />held on March 30, 1998, same time and place.
