RESOLUTION
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, a regular election was held in the City of University City, Missouri on
<br />Tuesday, April 7, 1998, to elect a Mayor, one Councilmember from the First Ward, one
<br />Councilmember from the Second Ward, one Councilmember from the Third Ward for a four year
<br />term, one Councilmember from the Third Ward for a two year term, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, said election was conducted according to the laws of the State of Missouri,
<br />the City Charter and Ordinances of the City of University City, and the rules and regulations
<br />promulgated by the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the following were candidates for the respective office as shown:

<br />AND WHEREAS, the following proposition was on the same ballot as shown:

<br />PROPOSITION E
<br />
<br />Shall the City of University City, Missouri, be authorized to impose a local use
<br />tax at the same rate as the local sales tax by a vote of the governing body,
<br />provided that if any local sales tax is repealed, reduced or raised by voter
<br />approval, the respective local use tax shall also be repealed, reduced or raised by
<br />the same action? A use tax return shall not be required to be filed by persons
<br />whose purchases from out of state vendors do not in total exceed two thousand
<br />dollars in any calendar year.

<br /> AND WHEREAS, pursuant to Article IX, Section of the City Charter, the election returns
<br />shall be canvassed by the City Council at a meeting not later than forty-eight hours after their
<br />receipt by the City Clerk, and the candidates receiving the highest number of votes for each
<br />office be declared elected,
<br />
<br /> NOW THEREFORE, pursuant to the laws of the State of Missouri, the City Charter, and
<br />the Ordinances of the City of University City, and the rules and regulations promulgated by the
<br />Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, the City Council of University City, at a
<br />meeting held on April 20, 1998, at 3:00 p.m., upon the certification of the returns by the Board of
<br />Election Commissioners of St. Louis County from the forty-one precincts in the City of
<br />University City, and upon certification by the City Clerk of the results of said election held
<br />Tuesday, April 7, 1998, in the City of University City, and as canvassed by the Council of said
<br />
