Session 589 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />February 1, 1960 <br /> <br />At a regular session of the University City Council, held in the Assembly <br />Room of the City Hall, on Monday, February !, 1960, Mayor Nathan B. Kaufman <br />presided and called the meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. In addition <br />to the Mayor, the following members of the Council were present: <br /> <br />Wm. A. Lahrmann <br />Bruce S. Stake <br />Morie B. Soule <br /> <br />Mildred Greeson <br />Irl B. Baris <br />Paul Tandler <br /> <br />Also present were City Manager Charles T. Henry, and Marvin E. Boisseau, <br />Director of Law. <br /> <br />MINUTES: <br /> <br />In reviewing the minutes of the Council meeting of January 25, 1960, Council- <br />man Stake referred to comments made by Mr. Robert Eskridge, 11 Princeton Place, <br />concerning Bill No. 5780 (page 6) - Defining and Prohibiting Discriminatory <br />Practices in Places of Public Accommodation, pointing out that in his opinion <br />~ir. Eskridge's views are not quite clearly expressed. Councilman Stake stated <br />that Mr. Eskridge had spoken in opposition to Bill No. 5788. Councilman Stake <br />requested that this passage be amended to read as follows: "Mr. Robert Esk- <br />ridge, 11 Princeton Place, upon being recognized, spoke in opposition to Bill <br />Ho. 5788, and expressed the view that this is the type of legislation that <br />should be considered by the people who are representing all the people of the <br />country." This was satisfactory to all members of the Council, and so was the <br />order. <br /> <br />Councilman Soule called attention to page 2 of the Council minutes of January 25, <br />1960, subject: CONSIDERATION OF TRANSFER OF FUNDS, and requested that the reason <br />for the transfer of each item be reflected. The first sentence accordingly <br />would read as follows: <br /> <br />"Consideration of certain budgetary transfers was explained <br /> by the City Manager and he pointed out that the administrative <br /> forces recommend the following transfers: <br /> <br />$3,300.00 from the Contingent Appropriation to <br /> Account 1400B for settlement of claims, <br /> court costs and investigation expenses. <br /> <br />190.00 from the Contingent Appropriation to <br /> Account 2630E for purchase of two legal size <br /> filing cabinets for the Inspection Services Division. <br /> <br />85.00 from the Contingent Appropriation to Account 1600E <br /> for purchase of a filing cabinet for the Finance <br /> Department." <br /> <br />There being no objection~ so was the order. <br /> <br />Referring to page 3 of the minutes of the Council meeting of January 25, 1960, <br /> <br /> <br />
