Lawlow Co. has proposed installing new limestone steps rather than resurfacing <br />the existing steps, accounting for the great disparity in the two bids. Hr. Ger- <br />hardt Kramer, consulting architect, has advised that the City accept the Klaric bid <br />which conforms entirely with the plans and specifications. <br /> <br />Councilman Sabol said he felt there were too many items on the Consent Calendar. <br />also feels the Council should get only one set of the Consent Calendar and other <br />items such as bills, because it is too big an expenditure. <br /> <br />He <br /> <br />Councilman Adams said that the Consent Calendar was adopted by the Council to take <br />care of items such as those on the calendar tonight, particularly the routine, every-- <br />year purchases and budgetary transfers, l. ir. Adams said he leaves duplicate copies <br />of material he receives with the City Clerk, so that it can be distributed to the <br />public or others who might have need of it. <br /> <br />Councilman Lieberman said the matter of the Consent Agenda should be brought up at <br />a more appropriate time, after study, and discussed then. He agreed with Councilman <br />Adams about the duplication issue. <br /> <br />Councilman Metcalfe moved approval of the Consent Calendar. Councilman Glickert <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />LETTER TO COUNCIL ON WAGE AND PRICE STABILITY <br /> <br />Councilman Adams proposed that the City }~nager write a letter to the Council on <br />Wage and Price Stability, informing them of the differences in price on items pur- <br />chased last year and the same items purchased this year. A very large number of <br />the prices are quite far above the limits suggested by presidential guidelines. <br /> <br />PERSONNEL REPORT <br /> <br />The Personnel report for the week ending June 16, 1979, was received and ordered <br />filed. <br /> <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT <br /> <br />The Police Department report for the week of 5une 3, 1979, through June 9, 1979, was <br />received and ordered filed. <br /> <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT <br /> <br />The Fire Department report for the week of June 9, 1979, through June 16, 1979, was <br />received and ordered filed. <br /> <br />RETURN TO DISCUSSION OF BUDGET <br /> <br />Councilman Glickert asked about the category called 1.10 Miscellaneous Outside Per- <br />sonal Services under Contractual Services in a number of departments--Engineering, <br />Street Maintenance, and Parks and Recreation. Mr. Ellman said in some cases the <br />money is for temporary help, and in the case of street maintenance, funds are needed <br />for personnel to do sealcoating. Hr. HcPhail, Director of Finance, added that some <br />of the funds in this category are for replacement of CETA employees, in anticipation <br />of that program being phased out. <br /> <br /> <br />
