After review and ge~eral discussion of the matter, Councilmember _~b~ <br />following Resolution and moved its adoption. <br /> <br />offered the <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION URGING EAST WEST GATEWAY COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS TO KEEP <br /> PROMISE TO REBUILD OLIVE/I-170 INTERCHANGE AND BRIDGE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, University City strongly supports the highway improvement to Olive Boulevard and Highway 1-170 <br />including replacing the 30 year old unsafe bridge, rebuilding the access ramps, and repairing and repaying the roadway; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the current traffic delays result in long idling times at peak hours with accompanying increase in air <br />pollution; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Olive Boulevard is enjoying a renewed spirit in business and community opportunities, such as the newly <br />formed Olive Business Association and general street improvements and formation of a bike trail system as a result of <br />federal transportation grant money and would greatly benefit from the new interchange; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, with developers seeking good access routes, the serious problem of traffic congestion hinders continuing <br />commercial development vital to the economies of both Olivette and University City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Olive & 1-170 plan has been a top priority since 1997 after plans were approved by all relevant <br />agencies (Mo-Dot, Federal Highway Administration and the East-West Gateway Coordinating Council). <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />University City, Missouri urges East West Council of Governments to keep its promise and'its plan of replacing the <br />Olive and 1-170 Interchange with a high quality, safe, and cost-effective project based on Mo-Dot's detailed study. <br /> <br />Motion seconded by Councilmember ~ and carried. <br />Adopted this O~ / day of ~ ,2004. <br /> <br />1 hereby certif~ that the above isa true excerpt from the minutes of the meeting of the City Council held on the <br /> or/ dayof ~// ,2004. ~ ~~ <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
