<br />session 1556, Minutes <br />November 4, 1991 <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />CITIZEN ~ <br /> <br />Mr. Carl Cibulka, 1421 Coolidge, said he felt University city's iInage was be- <br />ing degraded by allowing the promotion of alcohol and tobacco products. As a <br />member of the Community Partnership, he said he is actively working to reduce <br />substance abuse. D.rring the IDop in Motion parade, there was a 40-foot high <br />Budweiser advertisement, a lar:ge trailer diSPenSing Budweiser products, and a <br />car advertising Budweiser, all of which he felt were totally inappropriate. <br /> <br />Mrs. 'Ihompson asked Mr. cibulka what should be done. He said Council should <br />advertise it is against the use of alcohol, the police should comuct sting <br />operations on bUSinesses that sell alcohol to un:1erage people, and no gratui- <br />ties from corrpanies that sell alcohol and tobacco should be accepted. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman said that while Mr. Cibulka brings meaningful messages to the <br />Council and works as a volunteE3..r with the Partnership, he is not SPeaking for <br />the groups that are members of that organization. <br /> <br />CXXJNCIIMEMBER <X>MMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. Price said on a recent. walk in st. IDuis City, there were remarks that <br />residents were taking back the neighbortloodi university City should keep in <br />mi.rrl it does not want to get to the place where a neighbortlood must be taken <br />back--vigilance must be maintained to prevent deterioration. He said the <br />crime Watch program was extremely important, am Sgt. Fred Marquard should be <br />congratulated for his diligence in setting up such operations in many areas. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus apologized for neglecting to ask Council to add an item to the <br />agenda requested by the City Manager (setting a public hearing to rezone Fire <br />station #2). Mr. Adams moved that the requested item be added to the agenda. <br />Mr. Schoamer seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />SEITING roBLIC HEARING - FIRE STATION #2 <br /> <br />'!he City Manager asked that Council set a public hearing for December 9, 1991 <br />at 7:30 p.m. to consider rezoning Fire station #2, 6970 Olive, from "PR-Q" <br />Planned Residential-office to "Ge" General Conunercial. <br /> <br />Mr. Adams so moved, seconded by Mr. Wagner. All voted Aye. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus reminded Cotmcil of the study session to be held Saturday, No- <br />vember 16, at the Library. She also urged the audience to vote on November 5. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus adjourned the ~~ting at 8:03 p.m. <br /> <br />~ ().~ <br />Dolores A.
